Jacob Noa - Kupuʻohi Education Program Coordinator
Aloha, my name is Jacob Noa and I started as an intern through the Kupu ʻĀina Corps program. I was born on Oʻahu and grew up in Mililani Town. I graduated in Spring 2020 from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with a BA in American Studies, and I am planning to attend graduate school with the intention of becoming an educator. I am new to conservation work, having more experience in community organizing and education, but working at Loko Ea provides me the valuable opportunity to learn and experience different approaches to educating students and community members that exist outside of the classroom. Contributing to restoration at Loko Ea also allows me to fulfill some of my kuleana as a Kānaka Maoli of this ʻāina, while learning more about my culture in the process. I believe the more Kānaka we can get back on the land as stewards and protectors, the better. I am excited for the opportunity to contribute to pono initiatives like these at Loko Ea, that are essential to preserving both our culture and our livelihoods.
