Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I wear to volunteer at Loko Ea?
A: Please wear ʻāina clothes—clothes you donʻt mind getting wet and dirty. Closed toe shoes are preferred, but they may get wet if you are working in or near the water. Slippers are fine if you are using our tabis. Please consider bringing extra clothes and a towel to change for
**If you can not get wet, or need a less taxing hana—no worries! You will have a couple of options to choose the area you can best mālama at the CWD.
Q: What else should I expect?
A: Loko ea is often hot and dry... please bring a sunscreen, hat and a water bottle and stay hydrated throughout the day. We provide refill stations at the main tent and often at the worksite. Please ask a MLEF staff person if you need assistance!
Q: I am volunteering for school/classroom/volunteer hours. Can someone sign my form?
A: Of course! Please bring your paperwork with you to CWD and ask a MLEF staff to sign after workday is pau. After the workday, if you missed getting your paper signed, please email info@lokoea.org with your name, the date of the CWD and a photo of you at the workday. Most workdays are counted as 3 hours of volunteer work.
Q: Is there lunch provided?
A: Yes! MLEF staff cooks up an onolicious lunch for all volunteers. We kindly ask for people to bring their own mess kit.
